The 10th Meeting of Singapore-Guangdong Collaboration Council was organised on 18 November 2019 at the White Swan Hotel. Business China CEO, Ms Tin Pei Ling signed two Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)s, the first being the MOU between Singapore and the Greater Bay Area on the Youth Interns Exchange Scheme, and the second being the MOU of the Greater Bay Area on the International Innovative Talents Exchange Platform, both of which were witnessed by Business China Chairman, Mr Lee Yi Shyan, as well as SGCC Co-chairmen; Minister of Education Mr Ong Ye Kung, Governor Ma Xing Rui and important Chinese and Singapore government officials.
The first MOU aims to nurture a pool of youths with bilingualism and biculturalism, deepen understanding of youths towards new technology and its application, broaden horizons, enhance skills and employability among youths as well as establish a talent pipeline of new generation youths. The second MOU aims to deepen cultural exchanges and cooperation, share strategic partners’ networks, expertise and resources, and build an international platform integrating language, culture and business double-based in China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City.
During his opening speech, Singapore Minister of Education and Co-Chairman of SGCC, Mr Ong Ye Kung, highlighted that Singapore has seen increasing investments in the Greater Bay Area, hence contributing to an increase in the number of opportunities for greater collaboration between both countries. “The CSGKC was elevated to a State-Level Bilateral Cooperation Project last year, and marks a new milestone in Singapore-China cooperation. It is a key node to anchor knowledge-based industries and companies in the Greater Bay Area. For Singapore, it serves as a gateway for our companies to access the China market,” shared Minister Ong.
Business China aims to work closely and foster greater collaboration with the industry and the Guangzhou Knowledge City. It will continue to develop a cultural and economic bridge linking the world and China and seek to constantly align itself with the goal of anchoring Singapore via platforms linking China and the world.
