Business China Chairman Mr Lee Yi Shyan attended the 21st Singapore-Shandong Business Council (SSBC) meeting held at the Shangri-Hotel Singapore on 31 October 2019. Mr Lee participated in the bilateral meeting with government representatives and business leaders from Singapore and Shandong, where there were in-depth interactions with the delegation led by the Chinese SSBC Co-Chair and Shandong vice governor Ren Airong.
In his remarks, Singapore SSBC Co-Chair and Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Education Chee Hong Tat said that Singapore and Shandong will be boosting collaboration in four major areas. One of the areas mentioned is on people-to-people exchanges whereby SMS Chee, who is also Business China’s Board Director and Chairman of Go East Committee, talked about the Youth Interns Exchange Scheme (YES). Under the leadership of Business China Chairman Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Business China will administer the scheme to provide relevant internship related information and match interested youths and companies from both countries by creating an online portal.
The theme for the meeting this year is “Driving internationalisation through Professional Services Collaboration”, which discusses case studies and business opportunities in sectors such as banking and legal in both Singapore and Shandong. Mr Lee also witnessed the signing of 12 MOUs between Singapore and Shandong enterprises, as well as exchanging views with various leaders.
