Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew is to head a list of top speakers at a new event designed to give participants an insight into the rapidly changing face of China.

FutureChina Global Forum – to be held at the Ritz Carlton here on July 12 and 13 – will feature about 40 speakers, who are set to share their insights into China's economic, business, societal, political and cultural issues.

In addition to MM Lee, other prominent speakers will include Foreign Minister George Yeo, dean of Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy Kishore Mahbubani, and Citibank China's senior vice-president for lending Zhang Fengbo.

Some 32 speakers have so far confirmed their attendance with the organiser of the event, networking group Business China.

MM Lee will be a special guest for a dinner-dialogue session on the first day of the forum, while Mr Yeo will be giving a keynote address on the second day.
The event, which coincides with the 20th anniversary of bilateral ties between Singapore and China, has the theme of Strategic Insights For Riding China's Next Decade.

Mrs Josephine Teo, chief executive of Business China, told reporters at a media briefing yesterday that the forum serves to "meet the need for a more comprehensive and integrated understanding of the influences and trends that are shaping China".
Attendance is on an invitation-only basis, and the number of participants is being capped at 250.
